He pulled over at lower Makapu’u and started to get his wings out. Gage galle and Dop had just tried to fly off the top of Makapu’u but the winds were so gusty and gnarly they absorbed their attempts. They came down from the top of Makapu’u and saw Bence setting up to fly, they chatted with him and agreed to fly with him figuring it would be safer than up top. As soon as they got into flight, gage took a few turns and then landed. Apparently he didn’t like the winds and felt it best to be on the ground. He got his camera out and started filming. He filmed Bence, the dop and when he looked away bences canopy collapsed and by the time he looked back Bence was on the lava rock with a collapsed canopy. They got to him quickly and got him airlifted out. He was still conscious and asking for his fiancé Amberly and her whereabouts. By the time Amberly got to the hospital he was already sedated due to a seizure. And he never regained consciousness. He had badly broken his hips, elbow and overnight had swelling in his brain that ultimately resulted in him not coming back.
